User roles are permission sets that control access to areas and features within AOS.
AOS comes with a list of predefined standard roles. You can see the list of standard roles together with their description here.
The Roles tab within the User Management module enables you to:

Edit a role.

Audit a role.
Creating a New Role
To create a new role:

In the User Management module, click the Roles tab.
The Roles page opens.

Click the Create Role button.
The Create Role page opens.

On the Details page, specify the requested role attributes:
Attribute Description Id
The identification number associated with the role.
This is generated automatically when the role is created, and cannot be changed.
Name
The unique name of this role. Users
This field displays the number of users who have been assigned this role.
Status
You can set this to Active or Inactive. Description
This is a description of the role. Base Role(s)
You can choose to define the role from scratch, or to choose an existing role as a base role on which to build this role. Using a base role enables you to more easily manage role permissions, since the new role inherits the base role's permissions. -
Specify and manage the role's permissions in the Permissions grid, below the role attributes.

Click Save to save the new role.
